Avengers: Endgame Trailer #1

It’s cool if we can rush ahead to April 2019 now, I’m fine with that.

I love this trailer, but I hate the title, which is Marvel’s own damn fault — don’t keep the name of the movie a secret and overhype it if you’re just going to go with what everyone’s first guess was, you ninnies.

In fact, here’s a few titles I would have liked them to go with instead:

  1. Avengers: Assemble
  2. Avengers: Captain Marvel’s Gonna Be Pissed
  3. Avengers: Good of You to Finally Show Up, Hawkeye Ronin
  4. Avengers: Probably the Last One Before the X-Men Start Ruining Things, Ugh
  5. Avengers v Thanos: Dawn of Justice

Tony, Not Steve

Before we all rush to the theater to finally see Avengers: Infinity War tonight, please feel free to listen to this week’s brief episode of Nearly Coherent to find out what I think is going to happen, which might not, but it’d be kinda great if it did tbh

Avengers: Infinity War

If you don’t hear from me for a while, presume it’s because my Google searching for cryogenic freezing methods to get myself to May 2018 faster was successful.

Marvel’s Unified Universe

Wired.com has a pretty good piece on the guy behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kevin Feige, and how he built the era of Marvel Movie Madness we’re all enjoying.

Ask Feige what makes his particular kind of world-building possible and he says, simply, “have a plan.” It doesn’t have to be set in stone, he adds. His current estimate is that Marvel movies have been three-quarters plan and 25 percent bob-and-weave.

As important as having a plan is, I would argue that having someone to help form and execute that plan – someone who is a fan of the source material and the characters – is even more important. This’ll be fairly self-evident in a few years, when we can compare Marvel’s efforts, lead by Feige, and DC’s attempt to replicate that success, lead by the guy who made “Sucker Punch”.
